Srinagar, June 18: The University of Kashmir has announced a series of academic and administrative appointments and reassignments across several departments, research centres and academic units as part of its ongoing institutional restructuring and governance process.

According to official orders issued by the university administration, Dr. Ruqeya Nazir, Associate Professor, has been assigned the additional charge of In-Charge Director, Centre of Research for Development (CORD), and Coordinator, Microbiology Programme, relieving Prof. Bashir Ahmad Ganai of the responsibility. The order took immediate effect.

In another development, Prof. Seema Singh of the Department of Botany has been relieved of the charge of Coordinator, SET Cell, on her own request. Consequent upon the change, Prof. Ajaz Ahmad Dar of the Department of Chemistry has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of Coordinator, SET Cell until further orders.

The university has also effected a change in the Department of Philosophy. Prof. Tasleem Ahmad War of the Department of English has been relieved of the charge of Coordinator, Department of Philosophy, following his request. The additional charge has now been assigned to Prof. Md. Meraj Ahmad of the Department of Sanskrit until further orders.

Meanwhile, Prof. Aaliya Ahmad has been appointed Head of the Media Education Research Centre (MERC) following the completion of the three-year term and subsequent extension of Prof. Sabiha Mufti. The appointment will remain effective for a period of three years or until Prof. Aaliya Ahmad attains the age of superannuation, whichever is earlier.

An official from the Kashmir University said that the administrative decisions reflect a broader recalibration of academic responsibilities within the university and are aimed at ensuring continuity in academic administration, research coordination and institutional functioning. [KNT]
