Srinagar, April 10 (GNS): Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested five drug peddlers in Kashmir Valley.
Two “notorious drug peddlers” were arrested at Nagam Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, a police official said in a statement to GNS.
He said that the duo—Mushtaq Ahmed Khanday of Badipora, Budgam and Irshad Ahmed Yatoo of Nagam Chadoora were arrested during naka checking (checkpoint) while they were travelling on motor cycle (JKO1R-1045).
“During their personal search 480 Capsules of spasmoproxyvan and 03 bottle of codeine based syrup were recovered from their possession,” police said, adding, “Motor cycle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized.”
A case (FIR No.35/2021) under relevant sections of law NDPS act has been registered at Police station Chadoora, the police added.
Similarly in Anantnag, a Police party from police station Anantnag established a checkpoint near Shahi Bakery Bus stand, intercepted a person, Younis-ul-Islam Magray resident of Manghal Anantnag, riding on a motorcycle (JK18-0757). “During checking, officers were able to recover 20 bottles of Codeine phosphate from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.”
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 81/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Anantnag and investigation has been initiated, he said.
In Sopore, he said, on specific information, officers from PP Bus Stand Sopore established a checkpoint at Kupwara Crossing and intercepted two persons identified as Tariq Ahmad Ganie of Bohripora and Mukhtar Ahmad Parray of Saidpora Sopore. “During checking, officers were able to recover 19 grams of heroin from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.”
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 87/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation into the matter has been initiated, the spokesman added. (GNS)
