Budgam, July 10 : A police constable on duty died after an electric explosion from a transformer near the main gate of a police station in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday.
An official told news agency JKNS that the constable, identified as Altaf Ahmad Bhat, was performing sentry duty at the main gate of the police station when a sudden electric explosion occurred near a nearby transformer, causing him to fall unconscious.
He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors tried to revive him. However, he was declared dead shortly after, he said.
Police have initiated necessary medico-legal procedures, and further investigation is underway. (JKNS)
