Fortune Barishal terminated the contract of Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik on suspicion of “fixing.” Malik recently returned to Dubai, after playing three matches, with Fortune Barishal due to personal reasons.
It all happened during the match between Fortune Barishal and Khulna Riders at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on January 22. Barishal skipper Tamim Iqbal decided to bring Shoaib Malik as a bowler in the powerplay.
The Pakistan all-rounder, meanwhile, failed to live up to his captain’s expectations and surprisingly bowled three no-balls in the over, going on to concede 18 runs. This over by the Pakistan all-rounder raised significant suspicion.
Later, the owner of Fortune Barishal, Mizanur Rahman, stepped forward and terminated Shoaib Malik’s contract on suspicion of fixing. This decision means Malik will no longer be part of the league
Fortune Barishal has played three matches in the tournament, winning one and losing two. Currently, they are languishing in the second-to-last spot on the points table.
