Srinagar, May 26 The 44 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army today hosted the Formidable Cricket League at the Dobipora Cricket Stadium, aiming to promote youth engagement and community bonding through sports. The opening match featured a lively contest between teams from Dobipora and Gund Darvesh, drawing a large crowd of enthusiastic spectators.

The event was well-received by the local population, with residents turning up in good numbers to cheer for their respective teams. The Army extended a warm welcome to all attendees, offering refreshments—arranged and provided as a gesture of goodwill and hospitality.

A total of over 35 villages all over south Kashmir are expected to participate in the tournament, with teams representing different areas of Imamsahib. This large-scale involvement reflects the growing interest in sports and the unifying power of cricket among local youth.

An official said the tournament is part of ongoing efforts to encourage positive youth participation, build unity, and provide a constructive outlet for talent in the region.

“Cricket is more than just a game—it’s a way to bring people together, inspire youth, and support peace and progress,” the official added.

With the tournament now underway, more matches are scheduled in the coming days. Locals and players alike expressed appreciation for the initiative in organizing the event and creating a space for healthy competition and community interaction.
