Srinagar, Aug 19: Residents of Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar have raised concerns over the quality of macadamization carried out on some interior roads in the locality, alleging that the newly laid blacktop lacks the smooth finish expected of a properly executed road surface.
The residents said the surface appears coarse and lacks the smoothness normally associated with completed macadamization. They also questioned whether the required binding or finishing material, including the oil or bitumen component used in the process, had been adequately applied.
The concern, they said, was not about the need for the roads to be upgraded but about the quality of work being delivered after the macadamisation.
Locals have urged the concerned department to conduct an on-the-spot inspection of the interior roads and assess the quality of the work, including the material and finishing of the newly laid surface.
They said a physical inspection by the executing authorities would help determine whether the work conforms to the prescribed standards and whether any corrective measures are required. [KNT]
