Srinagar, Jun 10: The Youth Services and Sports Department has finalised the selection of 223 outstanding sportspersons for appointment in government service under the Outstanding Sportspersons Rules, 2022, ending a long-drawn selection process covering vacancies from 2014 to 2022.
According to the notification, a copy of which lies with Alfaaz – The Words, the final selection includes five candidates for the post of Chief Coach in the Gazetted cadre and 218 candidates for the post of Instructor in the Non-Gazetted cadre. The selection followed scrutiny of 1,247 applications and disposal of 227 objections received from 84 applicants and non-applicants.
The five candidates selected as Chief Coaches are Sunil Singh (Shooting), Sheikh Najma Saghir, Karan Chopra, Sahab Feroz Jelani and Aroosa, all from Pencak Silat.

Officials said the selection remains provisional and subject to the outcome of any pending court proceedings. The department has also reserved the right to verify testimonials and certificates submitted by candidates before appointments are issued.
