Srinagar, Jun 10: The Youth Services and Sports Department has finalised the selection of 223 outstanding sportspersons for appointment in government service under the Outstanding Sportspersons Rules, 2022, ending a long-drawn selection process covering vacancies from 2014 to 2022.

According to the notification, a copy of which lies with Alfaaz – The Words, the final selection includes five candidates for the post of Chief Coach in the Gazetted cadre and 218 candidates for the post of Instructor in the Non-Gazetted cadre. The selection followed scrutiny of 1,247 applications and disposal of 227 objections received from 84 applicants and non-applicants.

The five candidates selected as Chief Coaches are Sunil Singh (Shooting), Sheikh Najma Saghir, Karan Chopra, Sahab Feroz Jelani and Aroosa, all from Pencak Silat.
