Sopore, Sep 12 (GNS): A man drowned in River Jhelum in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, son of — resident of Sheer Colony Sopore.
Officials told GNS that Mohi-ud-Din drowned while he was attempting to drag his own boat towards the riverbank for repair purposes at Vijbal Dubgaw area.
Soon after the incident was reported, a team of SDRF Sub-Component Sopore rushed to the spot and launched a search operation.
After hectic efforts, the SDRF team retrieved the body from the river.
The body was later handed over to family after completion of medico-legal formalities.(GNS)
