Bandipora, Jan 25 (GNS): Residents in Odina village in this north-Kashmir district are up in arms against authorities concerned over dilapidated road conditions.
A local delegation told GNS, that the road stretch leading to the village from Khanpath to Odina, is dotted with pits at several places, making it difficult for the public and traffic to commute on.
“The road stretch is giving look of a pond, thereby exposing the tall claims of authorities into improvement of road connectivity”, they said.
“Such is the road condition that recently an ambulance driver with mortal remains of a local resident, returned mid-way after noticing the shabby road conditions”, Mohammed Ibrahim Parry, part of the delegation said.
Former Sarpanch of the village, Ghulam Qadir said that there have occured several accidents on the road especially in Chillai Kalaan. “Four persons have even underwent different bone surgeries”, he said.
The delegation has appealed top officials of department concerned to take effective measures for proper maintenance of the road.
When contacted AEE R&B Department, Khursheed Ahmad said that they have already forwarded a list roads to undergo upgradation including the Odina road.
“We are likely to receive a nod from the authorities anytime soon”, the official said adding “Once we receive an official communication, the work will followed-up on a priority basis.” (GNS)
