BUDGAM, JUNE 08: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza today said that the recovery rate of Covid-19 positive cases has touched 90 percent in the district.

The DC said this during a press briefing to present a detailed status of Covid-19 situation in the district, besides apprise of containment measures taken to prevent further spread of the virus in the district.

Giving details, the DC said that Budgam has recorded 90% recovery rate as there are only 1459 active covid positive cases out of total 12785 cases till date in the district.  He informed that the positivity rate has gone below 5 percent and stands at 4.93 percent at present in the district.

He said presently RAT and RT PCR testing is being aggressively conducted at all containment zones and other requisite locations. He said, 437 level 2 beds, in addition to 299 beds equipped with oxygen facilities have been kept in ready mode in case of an emergency.

Mirza said that Covid-19 control rooms have been set up in all 10 medical blocks and till date 4967 phone calls have been received from the public inquiring about Covid-19 related queries besides other medical issues.

Regarding oxygen supply, the DC said that construction of an oxygen plant at Beerwah has started while a team from Directorate of Health services has inspected other sites at Char Sharief. Efforts are on to set up oxygen plants at Magam and Chadoora as well, he added.

The DC said that 70,000 tests have been conducted in the containment zones to boost the process further. Also Mobile teams have been deployed and door to door surveillance is being carried out in order to trace the vulnerable old age and senior citizen patients, he added.

 On Vaccination drive, he said with relentless efforts from all concerned, Budgam has achieved 74 percent vaccination for 45 above age group and for the rest of the age group the vaccination shall be held at an earliest. 

He said lockdown has been relaxed a bit with 33 percent of shops opening in the district.

Meanwhile, the DC once again urged the public to follow all mandated Covid-19 SOPs to win the war against this pandemic.
