Srinagar, Jan 27 (GNS): Police on Thursday arrested a blood sample-collecter over charges of ‘destroying samples’ besides on allegations of embezzling money, in Pattan of north-Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A police official in the knowhow of things told GNS said that based on a complaint received that a person has gone missing with at least thirty blood samples besides with an amount of five thousand rupees, a team was constituted and a lookout sent to nab the accused.
“After hectic efforts, the alleged person was finally traced and subsequently taken into custody”, the official.
Identifying the accused as Sajad Ahmad Shiekh a resident of Pampore in Pulwama district, the official said that “Upon intense questioning the accused has confessed to the crime.”
However it could not be immediately known ‘as to why he destroyed the blood samples’, the official said.
Meanwhile the lab outlets in the area have maintained that they have been facing immense inconvenience amid frequent visits by patients and their attendants seeking status of their (blood) tests.
Meanwhile a case under FIR Number 10/2021 under section 407 IPC has been registered at Police station Pattan and further investigations set into motion. (GNS)
