Qazigund, Dec 10 : In a proud moment for South Kashmir, two young cricketers from the Qazigund belt have secured spots in the upcoming Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) Season 3, marking a major breakthrough for grassroots cricket talent in the region.

Asif Mughal, son of Mohd Ayoub Mughal and a promising all-rounder from Nussu Badragund, has been bought by Delhi Superstrikers for ₹3 lakh during the ISPL Season 3 auction. Known locally for his consistency and sharp all-round skills, Asif told news agency KNC.

“Hard work is the key to every achievement. I went unsold twice, but I never stopped working. Ups and downs are part of life nothing can be achieved by sitting idle.”

He also urged the administration to support young athletes.

“The government must support budding players so they can showcase their abilities on bigger platforms.”

Likewise, Majid Yousuf Sheikh, son of Mohd Yousuf Sheikh and another talented all-rounder from Panzath, Qazigund, has been picked by Ahmedabad Lions for ₹3 lakh. His selection is being celebrated as the result of years of dedication and passion.

“I always believed hard work pays off. Getting selected this year is a huge moment for me. I will give my best. My dream is to wear the Indian jersey one day,” he said.

Reacting to the development, DDC Member Vessu Qazigund, Bilal Ahmad Deva, expressed his happiness.

“This is a proud moment not only for this area but for the entire district. I congratulate both players and their families for their hard work and support.”

He also highlighted concerns regarding local sports infrastructure, “Over the last 5–8 years, playfields have been constructed in almost every village in the Qazigund belt, but many are not in proper condition. I urge the Government to look into this so our youngsters get the facilities they need to shine at national and international levels.” (KNC)
